New Orleans Fishing…Get In On the “Reel” Deal!
Captain Gene Makes Your Light
Tackle Fishing Trip One To Remember.

New Orleans fishing… there’s nothing like it! Just 40 minutes from downtown New Orleans to the coastal rich waters is salt-water fishing in one of the most sought after natural environments. Yes, there are other fishing charters you could use. But my knowledge of the “prime” fishing spots in the area makes light tackle fishing with me a true adventure.

It’s not uncommon for strikes to come one after the other in the coastal waters of Louisiana. Light tackle fishing is not a laid back recreational pass time here (unless you want it to be). It’s an active sport where Louisiana speckled trout fishing gets you trophy-sized monsters. You can also find the “thrill of the reel” with redfish, flounder, drum and more.

New Orleans Fishing Guide

Are you a serious fisherman looking for the most excitement on the water? Or someone who wants to share your love of fishing with your kids for the first time? Either way, it would be my pleasure to be your New Orleans fishing guide on an adventure you won’t soon forget.

Welcome Aboard!

My name is Capt. Gene Dugas. I am a native-born Louisianan and have fished the waters of southeastern Louisiana all my life. I am one of the most consistently successful New Orleans fishing guides in the area. On our "adventure", I will gladly show you some of the techniques and tricks specific to these waters that are acquired with years of fishing experience. I will personally take the time to show you and your group what is necessary to ensure a successful fishing trip and a good time.

And what is light tackle fishing without fish? Nothing. That’s why I guarantee fish.

We’ll navigate through the marshes, lakes, bayous and bays from Hopedale and Delacroix Island to the open waters of Breton Sound from my fully rigged 25’ custom built Avenger Bay Boat powered by 225 HP Mercury outboard motor. This natural estuary, formed by the Mississippi River is teaming with fish and wildlife. There simply is no better light tackle, Louisiana speckled trout fishing and red fishing anywhere. These natural wetlands are home to a huge variety of fish… if you know where to look. And believe me, I do!

Louisiana Speckled Trout Fishing

Just to let you know… the rumors are true about southern Louisiana. Speckled trout fishing here is the best in the world. When the conditions are right, the most exciting way to catch speckled trout is on top water lures. Louisiana speckled trout fishing brings on explosive strikes with the fish knocking the bait almost 3 feet out of the water. It’s not uncommon to reel in 4-6 pound giants on a regular basis. They make excellent trophies for your wall and good eating, too.

The weather in Louisiana allows for fishing almost all year long. So no matter what time of year you’re planning – don’t worry – speckled trout and red fish fishing is a year round sport.
